Statement on the Wallers of Jericho Week One Win and Roster Moves
From the Desk of the Chairman, GM, and Coach
ALBANY, NY - Following the closing of waiver action and free agency this morning, Chairman, General Manager, and Coach of the Wallers of Jericho, Michael Mulraney has released the following statement.
Week One of the fantasy football season is always the most difficult to judge just how well your team will perform. Who should we start in the Flex position? Do we have confidence in the matchups? Were the fleeting moments I spent researching my potential draft picks in between episodes of Grey’s Anatomy worth it?
On Monday Night Football, the Wallers of Jericho came from behind to defeat ‘Can You Diggs It?’ 122.78-109.06 on the backs of the Las Vegas Raiders superstars Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller. Jacobs was selected by the Wallers in the third round and 25th pick. Our team retained Darren Waller’s rights in the ninth round of this year’s draft. Jacobs rushed for 34 yards and scored two touchdowns. Waller recorded ten receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown.
Nick Chubb, the Cleveland Browns running back and the first overall pick in the MJC Fantasy Football League led our team with 20.1 fantasy points. The result of an 83 yard and two touchdown performance. Chubb narrowly outscored Waller who finished our comeback effort with 19.5 fantasy points.
Despite the victory, as coach, I have to do better. Two of our bench players outscored two starters. Tee Higgins and Corey Davis should have been elevated to the starting lineup. I should have more faith in our guys than the ESPN Fantasy Sports Professionals. We don’t manage with Excel sheets, we manage with heart.
I would also like to announce two roster moves made overnight and this morning. The Wallers of Jericho have claimed Denver Broncos Wide Reciever Tim Patrick for the Free Agent Budget cost of $14. The injury to Jerry Jeudy coupled with Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s conservative play should give us a decent bench option for the foreseeable future. Randall Cobb of the Green Bay Packers has been waived in the corresponding roster move. Additionally, the team has added free agent Chicago Bears reserve Running Back Damien Williams. Williams is the lead back-up in Chicago and is replacing Justin Jackson of the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Wallers wish the two the best in their future endeavors.
The team will continue play this week against Team CrowDunn (0-1).
