A Statement from the Chairman, GM, and Coach of the Wallers of Jericho
BRISTOL, CT - Ahead of the start of the National Football League and fantasy football season on Thursday night, the Chairman, General Manager, and Coach of the Wallers of Jericho, Michael Mulraney has released the following statement.
"Following last season's injury-laden affair we made an effort to develop a fully orchestrated roster. Having held the draft rights to Chris Carson and Austin Ekeler in the third and four rounds respectively, we felt we had the type of "win now" roster that predates a championship run. With injuries to Michael Thomas, Julio Jones, Parris Campbell, Austin Ekeler, Cam Newton, and Chris Carson, it simply didn't materialize the way I imagined it. For that, I apologize.
This past fantasy draft I felt confident in keeping Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller in the ninth round. Waller is projected to be the second-best tight end in standard-scoring formats. Any fantasy player worth their salt will tell you how difficult it is to find a reliable tight end. We must take advantage of this roster move.
I have also heard the concerns of those of you regarding the seventh-round protection of Tee Higgins of Cincinnati. I know that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow openly advocated for his former LSU Tiger teammate Ja'Marr Chase to join the team. However, Chase has had a spell of the drops all throughout the preseason and this should keep Higgins in positive territory. Especially coming into the season as a waiver wire protection.
In the fantasy draft, we were proud to bring back Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen in the second round, a former member of our points championship team three years ago. We imagine his veteran leadership will provide a spark for a team snakebitten by injuries the last few seasons. We also bring back J.D. McKissick of the Washington Football Team and Justin Jackson, Allen's teammate in Los Angeles. Two reserve running backs we believe are capable of providing points from the flex position on bye weeks or to step up and get double-digit points should their leads go down with injuries.
We have put together a draft ranked as the third-best roster following draft night a tremendous feat, especially considering having the first pick in a two-player keeper league. This roster should compete for a championship and a points title.
I encourage you all to, as President Richard Nixon once said, Keep the Faith. The Wallers of Jericho will emerge from the newly formed Eastern Division and win the coveted Lawson Trophy.
As a way to continue to discuss the team with our beloved fans, I will ask who the Flex starter should be each week. This week the two closest players are running back Myles Gaskin on the Miami Dolphins or Tee Higgins wide receiver of the Cincinnati Bengals. Please vote below.
Thank you and go Wallers!
